What Tip Off Live is
Tip Off Live is an independent basketball site. Our live dashboard rotates through every NBA game in progress, showing the score, quarter-by-quarter scoring, shooting, rebounds, assists, player leaders and a running feed of what has changed. When a game ends it moves into our results section.
What you can find here
- Scores and results with a written recap and full box score for every finished game.
- A daily digest of the night's surprises, close finishes, standout players and streaks.
- Standings for both conferences, calculated from completed games.
- Game previews and win probabilities that weigh form, rest, head-to-head history, injuries and our own team ratings.
- Power rankings for all 30 teams.
How the writing is produced
Recaps, previews and digests are produced by software we built, working from box-score data. Each sentence is generated from the numbers for that specific game, so a recap only says what the data supports. These pages are not written by a reporter and they do not describe events the numbers cannot show, such as momentum, motivation or what happened away from the scoreboard. We label them as automatically written, and the methodology page explains the rules and the ratings behind the win probabilities.
